Atlantis has been the subject of countless films, as has Nazi gold and oil polluting our oceans, but never have all these elements come together under one roof as a submarine movie. Aiming for a screenplay 90-110 pages max.

JILL BIRD'S BBC WORLD NEWS SPECIAL REPORT, CHARLEY TEMPLE INVESTIGATING (flashback)

Somewhat intrigued at the answers to just a couple of question live on air. Jill Bird gets the go ahead from the BBC News World Service editor in chief to investigate what seems to be an incredible expose of the North Sea oil industry, but a group who claim to have been framed, assaulted, imprisoned, and clearly challenging the legitimacy of the British justice system, claiming conspiracy - all the way to the top.

"This is a job for Charley Temple, Chief. She's too young to remember the Piper Alpha disaster in the North Sea, but might have heard of Deepwater Horizon."

"Yes, I agree, get her on it if she's available." Jill's editor was singing from the same hymn sheet.

Clearly, these Terramentals had an axe to grind. A fairly sizeable axe at that.

SHADOW LINES - CHARLEY VISITS THE TERRAMENTALS IN PRISON

Charley Temple had always trusted her instincts—those quiet, visceral whispers that danced just beneath conscious thought. And from the moment she walked out of Northeye Prison after her first interview with the Terramentals, her instincts had been on high alert.

By the second visit, she noticed the dull blue estate car idling across the street. Same scratch on the rear bumper. Same bored driver pretending to read the Eastbourne Gazette. She said nothing, but she logged the time, snapped a discreet photo, and slipped it into her encrypted notes folder.

The third visit brought no subtlety. Just outside the prison gates, two Sussex constables approached her, all gleaming boots and forced politeness.

“Afternoon, Miss Temple. Mind telling us the nature of your visits to Northeye?”

She offered them her most disarming smile. “It’s called journalism. Try it sometime.”

One of them—blonde, mid-forties, smelled faintly of pepper spray—tilted his head with artificial patience. “Just making sure you’re not... aiding and abetting extremist groups.”

Charley blinked. “You mean the five environmentalists your colleagues framed? The ones who were sexually assaulted and railroaded through a kangaroo court while your force ‘lost’ the CCTV footage? No. I’m good.”

He opened his mouth to retort, but she was already walking.

By her fourth visit, things escalated.

Charley returned to her London flat to find the front door half-ajar, splinters in the deadbolt like dried bone. Every drawer upturned. Her laptop and desktop tower gone. Phone too. The bastards hadn’t even bothered with subtlety.

A crumpled search warrant—unsigned and half-folded—lay on the floor beside an open dossier marked “OPERATION DORMANT FURY.”

She stood very still in the wreckage. Then she turned to the untouched bookshelves, slid aside a row of old Murakami paperbacks, and retrieved a slim drive stashed behind a false panel. Triple encrypted. Fresh backups every visit.

Good luck finding that, she thought coldly.

They got her the fifth time.

Just outside the prison walls, two plainclothes officers in a grey Citroën intercepted her. Charley barely had time to react before she was cuffed, told she was being held for “data violations” under a vague subclause of the Espionage Act.

At Lottbridge Drove’s sterile holding suite, they didn’t even try to hide their smugness. One of the interrogators, a bloated man with a permanent sneer, dropped into the metal chair opposite her.

“You’re trespassing on state interests, Miss Temple. Keep digging and you’ll be bunking with your eco-friends in Sing Sing.”

Charley leaned forward, eyes burning. “Sing Sing’s in New York, genius. Try reading a map.”

The door slammed behind them. The lights flickered. But the real switch came moments later—unseen, unheard.

Deep inside the Lottbridge network, HAL was already watching.

The AI’s interface shimmered across the Elizabeth Swann’s neural console, pulling surveillance feeds, jail logs, biometric access trails. Charley’s holding cell lit up in 4K clarity. Her heart rate, elevated. Her interrogation, live.

John Storm frowned at the screen.

“She’s in a box,” he said quietly. “And they’re trying to break her.”

He picked up the comms headset and connected to George Franks.

George Franks didn’t waste time.

With the backing of several MPs sympathetic to the whistleblower cause, he fired off a formal request for immediate release and demanded to know why an accredited journalist had been detained without charges, denied legal counsel, and held under surveillance without court order.

He attached a portion of HAL’s recovered footage—scenes of Charley being led to a cell, visibly unharmed, followed by flickers of shadows in the corridor, unlogged entries, men without IDs.

By morning, the Sussex Constabulary’s switchboards were jammed with press enquiries and legal threats.

Under pressure, the officers at Lottbridge Drove blinked first.

Charley was unceremoniously released just after dawn.

She walked out smiling, eyes bloodshot but defiant. “Nice to know,” she murmured to no one in particular, “they’re scared enough to be this stupid.”

The Claymore platform was nothing more than a warped skeleton now—its once-proud latticework blackened and twisted. Though the world already knew who pulled the trigger, it was Charley who revealed why the barrel had been loaded.

In a blistering World News Special anchored by Jill Bird, she laid it out: inspection records forged or missing. Failures to fix leak alarms. Pressure tests falsified. Pipeline breaches repeatedly patched with duct-tape engineering.

Her deeper investigation uncovered the rest—new emergency powers drafted behind closed doors, allowing journalists to be surveilled and detained “preemptively” in suspected environmental sabotage cases. It was a legal mutation worthy of Henry VIII, or worse.

On air, she didn’t flinch.

“This is what history warned us about: authoritarian erosion disguised as energy security. It smells like oil—and fear.”

Ministers declined to comment. Lord Everington, the bombastic billionaire darling of North Sea PR, was nowhere to be found. His penthouse suite in Belgravia was dark. His PR firm returned calls with automated replies.

Charley received one final threat in the post—a blank card with only five words in ink:

“End the story or else.”

She slid the note into a plastic evidence sleeve and filed for a High Court injunction. This time, she found a judge who still believed in law.

A week later, the court granted her full protection from further police interference, citing “gross abuse of process and violation of press freedom.”

Charley stood on the courthouse steps, defiant in a navy coat, flashbulbs popping like gunfire.

“They tried to silence me,” she said, voice cool and resolute. “But all they’ve done is make me louder.”

Jill Bird reports on the demands of the Terramentals daring attack. The whole world is shocked to learn of the North Sea pollution cover up. Charley Temple investigates the government's efforts to silence criticism with radical law changes. Likening it to Henry VIII and Nazi German political tactics.

167 DEAD & NO PROSECUTIONS - Incredible to think that with such loss of life, the CPS would not push to gain a conviction. The obvious charge of Corporate Manslaughter springs to mind. Such as with the Network Rail case, and rail maintenance firm Balfour Beatty. Where six of their senior employees were to face manslaughter charges over the October 2000 Hatfield rail crash, it was announced, 9 July 2003.

Disillusioned eco activists are imprisoned by the British, for peacefully protesting in London about unrealistically low fines for oil spills in the North Sea, demonstrating strictly in accordance with their Article 9 and 10 Human Rights. They are targeted by fossil fuel industry fraudsters, who bribe police officials and court judges to secure a conviction, with the backing of corrupt ministers of state who have undeclared personal investments in oil drilling companies: Amoco, BP, Shell, Total. That sets in motion a train of events, where, having been framed, the ever more determined environmentalists build a mini-sub, fast enough and especially equipped, to sink or capture Astute, Aukus and US Seawolf class submarines. Having captured HMS Neptune, the Terramentals torpedo a BP owned rig, also destroying two others (Shell), with the looming threat to target all 150 plus, operating in the North Sea. The oil producers are temporarily forced to shut down production, as a result of the significant media coverage and public outrage on realization of the pollution. The UN asks John Storm to provide a geodata survey on the environmental damage.
