THE TARGET - Terramentals aim to steal a British Royal Navy submarine, to destroy oil wells in the North Sea, by way of drawing attention to the manifold oil discharges, and their unlawful detention, as legitimate conservation protestors.

Benjamin Ried Blakestone RN is the Captain of HMS Neptune, Astute class nuclear submarine, a Commander in the British Royal Navy. Along with many other Astute class submarine captains, he is concerned at the never ending delays and lack of proper servicing of weapons that are potentially dangerous, ticking time bombs, liking it to the penny-pinching of public roads, potholed with tarmac craters.

All of his efforts to report what he believes are essential repairs, and the lack of urgency to make his command safe, are ignored by the Admiralty and Ministry of Defence. At one point he refuses to take HMS Neptune out without a full survey, but he is ordered to Captain the leviathan, or face a court martial, for disobeying a direct instruction by a commanding officer. Captain Blakestone is aware that other Royal Navy Commanders have reported what they believe to be dangerous practices, and been similarly threatened - not to make waves.

In the John Storm series of ocean awareness adventures, extreme activists use their Predator HK to steal an Astute class submarine, belonging to the British Royal Navy. The anti global warming terrorists plan to steal US and Soviet submarines, as part of their agenda to prove the futility of all out thermonuclear annihilation. Using their own illegal, weapons against the perpetrators of what they see as crimes against humanity.

In this fictional John Storm adventure, the Astute submarine commandeered, develops radiation leaks, making the vessel dangerous to life in the ocean, and eventually, those submariners operating the vessel, adding to the list of complaints of the Terramentalists.
