HAL - AI ONBOARD SYSTEMS COPILOT
ATLANTIS STORY MAP & OPERATION HOMEPAGE
AI
COPILOT - Hal is the onboard AI system that serves as the brain and nervous system of the Elizabeth Swann, a solar and hydrogen-powered ship. This advanced AI is responsible for a wide range of functions, including:
2. Human Interface: Hal interacts with the crew, providing information, responding to queries, and assisting with tasks. It acts as a central hub for communication and coordination.
3. Sensors and Systems: Hal is integrated with the ship's various sensors, including those for navigation, weather, and environmental monitoring. It processes and interprets this data to ensure the ship's safe and efficient operation.
Hal AI™ is the onboard supercomputer that manages the ship's systems, security and safety features. Hal is an artificially intelligent AI crew member or Copilot, self learning, and friends with John and Dan, But especially close with John, who is able to communicate via his CyberCore™ nano-computer and BioCore™ brain implant. Hal is interactive with The Ark, onboard DNA database.
Hal AI™ serves as an onboard geospatial data harvesting system.
Functionality includes:
The Elizabeth Swann is autonomously piloted by Captain Nemo, named after the Captain of the Nautilus in Jules Verne's classic: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. A stand alone unmanned navigation system.
Hal is also friends with Charley Temple, a camerawoman turned investigative reporter, and campaigner for justice, and Jill Bird, a news anchor with the BBC world service.
As an artificial intelligence, Hal was fascinated when John accidentally becomes a super-human when injected with a CRISPR virus in Manaus, while rescuing his friend Charley Temple from a group of scientists, who managed to clone Cleopatra, the last Pharaoh Queen of Ancient Egypt. His strength and boosted intelligence help him to rescue Cleopatra from the CIA, and survive a US missile attack.
WHAT OTHER MYSTERIES MIGHT HAL UNCOVER ?
The enigmatic depths of the
ocean are the final frontier on our own planet. Let’s dive into some tantalizing mysteries that Hal, the intrepid AI aboard the Elizabeth Swann, might uncover:
Beyond Atlantis, there are many other sunken cities waiting to reveal their secrets. Imagine unearthing remnants of ancient cultures, their art, and forgotten knowledge. Hal might detect submerged temples, pyramids, or even evidence of prehistoric societies.
Underwater Biodiversity and New Species:
The ocean conceals countless species yet unknown to science. Hal’s sensors are ideal to identify unique life forms, from bioluminescent creatures to elusive deep-sea dwellers. Picture a new species of jellyfish with iridescent tentacles or a cryptic cephalopod lurking in the abyss.
Shipwrecks and Sunken Treasures:
Hal’s sonar scans would undoubtedly pinpoint shipwrecks lost to time. Imagine recovering ancient artifacts, gold-laden galleons, or lost manuscripts. The Elizabeth Swann might stumble upon Blackbeard’s legendary pirate ship or other sunken WWII submarines. In the John Storm series, they do find the gold laden ship that once belonged to Captain Sir Henry Morgan.
Geological Anomalies and Undersea Volcanoes:
Hal’s mapping abilities extend beyond the mundane. It might reveal underwater volcanic vents, hydrothermal chimneys, or even a hidden supervolcano. These geological features could reshape our understanding of Earth’s crust and its impact on climate.
Deep Trenches and Abyssal Plains:
The Mariana Trench, Challenger Deep, and other oceanic chasms remain largely unexplored. Hal could unveil their mysteries - strange organisms, extreme pressures, and bizarre ecosystems. Perhaps it discovers an ancient library nestled in a trench crevice, containing scrolls written by merfolk scholars.
Submerged Artifacts and Sunken Art Installations:
Imagine sculptures, murals, or installations intentionally placed on the ocean floor by artists or visionaries. Hal might stumble upon a submerged gallery. These underwater masterpieces could inspire awe and provoke philosophical discussions from scholars of Plato, for example.
Cryptic Signals and Alien Contact:
Hal’s radio decoding skills might intercept signals from extraterrestrial civilizations. Could it decipher an otherworldly message? We await the day when Hal deciphers “Greetings, Earthlings!” from a distant star system.
Please
keep in mind that these scenarios blend fact and fiction, but the allure of exploration remains genuine. Hal’s journey is a testament to human curiosity and our quest to unravel the mysteries hidden beneath the waves.
THE TARGET - Terramentals aim to steal a British Royal Navy submarine, to destroy oil wells in the North Sea, by way of drawing attention to the manifold oil discharges, and their unlawful detention, as legitimate conservation protestors.
OPERATION NEPTUNE CAST:
In the John Storm series of ocean awareness adventures, the extreme activists use their Predator HK to steal an Astute class submarine, belonging to the British Royal Navy. The anti global warming terrorists plan to steal US and Soviet submarines, as part of their agenda to prove the futility of all out thermonuclear annihilation. Using their own illegal, weapons against the perpetrators of what they see as crimes against humanity.
In this fictional John Storm adventure, the Astute submarine commandeered, develops radiation leaks, making the vessel dangerous to life in the ocean, and eventually, those submariners operating the vessel, adding to the list of complaints of the Terramentalists.
